Everything you need to know before your fitting 🤍

Your fitting is where your gown truly becomes yours. Our goal is to make sure your dress fits beautifully, feels comfortable, and reflects your vision for your wedding day.
To make your appointments as productive and enjoyable as possible, please take a few minutes to review the information below before your first fitting.

✨ Before You Arrive

Bring Your FIT-CRITICAL Items
These items are essential to achieving an accurate fit. Please bring them to every alterations appointment:

  • 👠 Wedding shoes
  • Crinoline / petticoat, if wearing one
  • Specialty undergarments such as Spanx, SKIMS, etc.
  • Breast enhancements such as Boomba, fashion tape, etc.

Why are these important? Your shoes, undergarments, and other fit-critical items can change the way
your gown fits and sits on your body. Without them, your seamstress may not be able to accurately assess or complete certain alterations.

👯 Keep Your Guest List Small

We allow 2–3 guests maximum for all alterations appointments.
Alterations require space, focus, and time for your seamstress to work carefully with you and your gown.
Keeping your group small allows us to provide the best fitting experience possible.

👗 What to Expect at Your Fitting

Your fitting is different from your bridal shopping appointment.
You’ll work one-on-one with a professional seamstress who is focused on fit, structure, comfort, and precision. Your seamstress will assess how your gown fits, pin and mark areas for adjustment, and walk you through recommended alterations.

Because fittings are hands-on and detail-focused, the appointment may feel more efficient and technical than your original bridal appointment. This focused approach allows your seamstress to spend the time necessary to perfect your gown.
Most importantly, your seamstress is there to hear you.
Please speak up about how your gown looks and feels. If something doesn't feel right, you're unsure about an alteration, or you have a specific concern, let your seamstress know. This is a safe space to ask questions and communicate your vision.
Your seamstress will work with you to achieve the best possible result within the construction and capabilities of your gown.

We want you to leave feeling confident in the plan for your dress.

💰 Alterations Pricing & Payment

The cost of alterations is due at the end of your first alterations appointment.
If you have questions or concerns about pricing, please discuss them with your seamstress before the end of your appointment. At this time, we are unable to accept partial payments.
We want you to have a clear understanding of the

recommended alterations and associated costs before payment is made.

📅 How Many Fittings Will I Need?

Most brides will need 2 alterations appointments.
However, every gown and bride is different. A 3rd or 4th appointment may be necessary depending on:

  • The alterations being performed
  • The construction of your gown
  • Changes to your measurements
  • Changes to your fit-critical items
  • How the gown progresses throughout the alterations process

Additional fittings are sometimes part of achieving the best possible final fit and do not necessarily indicate that something has gone wrong.

⏰ Appointment Timing & Rescheduling

Our seamstresses have very limited availability, and appointments can be difficult to reschedule due to high demand.
Please make every effort to attend your previously scheduled appointments.

Running late?

If you are more than 10 minutes late, please call Bridal Elegance immediately. Depending on the timing of the appointment, your fitting may need to be forfeited or rescheduled.

💎 Need Accessories?

We love helping you complete your bridal look, but due to the time constraints of alterations appointments, we cannot accommodate accessory shopping during your fitting.
If you need to look at veils, jewelry, belts, or other accessories, simply call ahead and schedule a separate Accessories Appointment before or after your alterations appointment.
This ensures you have dedicated time and attention for both your gown and your accessories.

🤍 We're Here for You

We know alterations can feel intimidating, especially when you're seeing your gown pinned, marked, or temporarily adjusted for the first time. This is all a normal part of the process.
Your seamstress is your partner in getting your gown to its best possible fit. Ask questions, share your concerns, and communicate what you love—or what you're unsure about.
And remember, you never have to figure it out alone.
If you have questions at any point, please ask your seamstress or reach out to Bridal Elegance. We're here to guide you every step of the way and make sure every detail is beautifully executed for your wedding day.
We can't wait to see you in your gown! 🤍
